Araca is the realisation of my dream – to take visitors to the heart of the Amazon, sharing my age-old knowledge of the forest, its ways, its medicinal plants and its spirituality along the way.
This is the Serra do Araca, the wildest and most isolated mountain in the tropical world. It’s one of the most beautifuil places you will ever see: a table-top mountain dripping with huge waterfalls. The forest here is completely undisturbed and still filled with jaguars, tapirs and hundreds of rare species of birds, primates and reptiles. Join me on a two-week expedition to get there. MORE PICTURESThis is Jau National Park. It’s part of the biggest area of protected rainforest in the world. There are thousands of huge black caimans here, as well as meter-long macaws, giant otters and hoatzin, a bird which is a living fossil. MORE PICTURESThis is the Rio Negro, the most beautiful river in the Amazon. It is 30km wide, and has the biggest archipelago of fresh water islands in the world. It’s incredibly beautiful.
